The book is a continuation of the two-volume "Military uniform of the epoch of Alexander II. 1855-1861" and is devoted to the uniforms of regular troops of the middle and final period of the reign of Alexander II (from 1862 to 1881). This epoch was one of the most difficult periods in the history of domestic uniform costume, abounded with various innovations and changes. For a long time it remained the least studied - up to our days there was not a single printed work devoted to it.
The first volume of the book, which was published earlier, includes a general part devoted to the changes in uniforms that applied to all or a significant part of the troops and servicemen, as well as a description of the uniforms of departments and units of the military administration and Guards troops. The second volume describes the uniforms of army troops, as well as the armament, equipment, and rules for wearing uniforms. The book is equipped with rich reference and illustrative material from domestic and foreign museums and private collections, much of which is published for the first time.
