"Down the Magic River" - a witty, funny story by E. Uspensky based on Russian fairy tales. An ordinary schoolboy Mitya comes to his grandmother's village for the summer and finds himself in the Tridevyatoe kingdom. There are all the characters familiar from childhood: Serpent Gorynych eats people, Baba Yaga can also eat, but mostly brings the tsarevitch, feeds, drinks, puts to bed. Koshchey the Immortal is made of iron and has been hanging in the basement on chains for two hundred years. And here such an opportunity presented itself: Tsar Makar was going to retire. So the "loyal" tsar's servants suggested that Koschei take the throne. And the change of power is rarely peaceful.
