The cycle "Mirgorod" by Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol (1809-1852) is rightly considered a masterpiece of Russian literature. The stories "Taras Bulba", "The Old World Landlords", "Viy", "How Ivan Ivanovich quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich" are the "golden fund" of Russian classics, which is confirmed by numerous screen and theatrical productions.

What is Mirgorod like? It is a collective image of the Low Russian province, where at one end of the city a seminarian is performing the funeral of a witch-pannochka and encountering evil forces, and at the other, far away from the worldly bustle, a couple of old landlords live blissfully. The story of the rebellion of the Zaporozhian Cossacks and the feud of old friends, which began because of a trifle. All this you will find on the pages of this collection.
