Artist Andrei Davydov returned to Varvarin Island, where he lived as a child with his parents and sister. The man is disappointed: his family life did not work out, his career has stagnated. On the way, he gave a lift to a woman with a deaf-mute girl: Klara was going to the island in the hope that her daughter would be healed by a local saint. A church was built in his honor, although it is strangely located - not on a hill, but in a lowland... Life goes on as usual, Davydov settles in the old house of his parents. Over time, he begins to notice something is wrong, but so far he cannot understand what is going on, writing off everything as coincidences. Finally, Andrei finds an unsent letter from his father to his mother. After reading it, he understands: Varvarin Island is a very strange place, and it is in no hurry to let go of those who find themselves there. Many remain forever, and no one knows how to avoid this fate...
Albina Nuri's novels are a whole world in which reality intertwines with mysticism and the other world, where laws operate that are different from the laws of reason. The heroes encounter inexplicable phenomena that run counter to the ordinary picture of the world, and they have to go through a lot to return their lives to their usual course. Albina Nuri's novels are liked by both readers and critics.
