A fairy tale story from the famous Swedish writer Frida Nilson about mutual help and support, about courage and standing up for oneself, about how to remain human even in the most difficult times. Sem and his younger brother Immer are orphans. The boys live with their evil aunt Tura, who makes them work in the workshop from morning till night. One day the brothers meet a talking rat named Black Rat. He tells them about the beautiful land of the Lindworms, ruled by the good Queen Indra. All her life the queen has dreamed of being a mother and would be happy to adopt Sem and Immer. The boys agree to live in the castle. For days on end they play and eat sweets. But soon Sem realizes that Indra likes his younger brother, but the queen does not have tender maternal feelings for him. And the servant-beasts behave suspiciously: they dream of returning to the forest and are not very happy to please Indra. It is also surprising that there are no people living in this land. What secret is Queen Indra hiding?
