Boris Ryzhyi (1974-2001) was born a poet. During his short poetic life (he started writing at the age of 14) more than 1000 poems were published. His childhood and youth were still Soviet, and his youth fell on the "dashing" 90s. He became a poet of the turn of two epochs, remaining in Sverdlovsk - the city of his childhood. The collection "In Distant and Sad Neighborhoods" presents poems from 1992-2001, which make it clear why critics and admirers call him the last "Soviet" poet. The decade since his death has brought him fame and recognition unprecedented for our non-poetic time. The lines of his poems have become quotations and aphorisms on blogs and LiveJournal, dozens of his poems have been set to music, films have been made about him, and the cult play "Redhead" is being staged at P. Fomenko's Workshop Theater.
The proposed collection, which also includes a prose work "Rotterdam Diary", is addressed to lovers and connoisseurs of contemporary poetry.
