The reader is offered a corrected and supplemented edition of the first part of the fundamental work devoted to the history of uniforms, insignia and insignia, equipment and edged weapons of the Soviet Navy. This book covers the period from the inception of the Red Fleet in 1918 up to and including 1942.
It is based on normative-legal acts and archival materials, many of which are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The volume of this edition has increased by 80 pages, mainly due to the inclusion of newly discovered archival documents from the period 1918-1921, allowing to trace the evolution of ideas in the context of the development of the Red Fleet uniform projects.
A number of published materials made it possible to erase white spots concerning inscriptions on cap ribbons, as well as insignia, such as the arm stars of political officers.
The book is illustrated with images of authentic items of uniforms, insignia and insignia, equipment and edged weapons from domestic museum collections and private collections, as well as a large number of photographs, drawings and other pictorial sources.
The publication is intended for a wide range of readers, including museum and creative workers, historians, genealogists, collectors, and all those interested in the history of the Russian Navy.
