The book is devoted to the uniforms, equipment and armament of the Russian Navy during the reign of Alexander II (1855-1881). This era is one of the most complex periods in the history of Russian uniforms, it was very full of various innovations and changes, and therefore up to our time remained the least studied by specialists. This is the first printed work published in Russia after 1917, where the evolution of the Russian naval uniform of the time of Alexander II is considered in detail.
Structurally, the narrative is divided into a general part, which describes changes in uniforms that applied to all or a significant part of military sailors, and chapters devoted to specific changes in the uniforms of various categories of sailors (admirals, members of the imperial retinue, naval crews, marine department corps, etc.). Special chapters describe armament, equipment and horse harness. As an appendix, the rules of wearing different types of uniforms are given. The book is provided with rich reference and illustrative material from domestic and foreign museums and private collections, much of which is published for the first time. The publication is intended for a wide range of readers - workers of museums and educational institutions, artists of theater and cinema, fans of military-historical miniatures, military-historical reconstructors and all those who are interested in the history of the Russian Navy.
