This story inspired Hans Christian Andersen to write "The Little Mermaid"! This iconic story of love and betrayal, written by the classic of foreign literature, Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué, has inspired more than seven operas and more than ten feature films. "Ondine" lives on in thousands of stories about mermaids, mermaids, and water spirits who, through unfortunate accident, fall in love with human beings.

What is it like to love without a soul?

In a lonely hut deep in the forest, the knight Huldbrand meets a fisherman and his wife. They introduce him to their adopted daughter, the blonde, blue-eyed beauty Ondine. Huldbrand immediately falls in love with her, forgetting his promise to marry Lady Bertalda.

Ondine confesses that she is not human, but a water spirit. But Huldbrand is undeterred and marries her, taking her to his castle. Gradually, Undine realizes that her true nature cannot be hidden from the gossip of many. She also notices an attraction between Huldbrand and Bertalda.

Undine will have to choose between the human grief of lost love and the eternal wanderings of a free water spirit.
