In July 1918, a brutal crime was committed in Yekaterinburg. A mother, father and their children - four girls and a young boy - were brutally murdered. They were shot at point-blank range, finished off with bayonets. The walls of the room, splattered with blood, dismembered bodies, an attempt to hide traces of a crime. Probably, if such a report appeared in the press, even in our criminal time, it would make many shudder. But 100 years ago, they killed not just a family – they killed the royal family, trying to end a thousand-year-old historical Russia. Sokolov, a forensic investigator on the most important cases, who was engaged in the case of the death of the last royal couple from the Romanov family in the spring of 1919, scrupulously and meticulously studied the smallest details that could reveal the true course of events. Unfortunately, he himself died in exile under strange circumstances, and the documents he collected disappeared without a trace. This book, which he managed to release shortly before his death, is all that remains of the materials of the most famous and mysterious criminal case of the XX century.
