The novels by Evgeny Voyevodin (1928-1981) and Eduard Taluntis (1926-1992) "Recently..." (1955) and "Hard Alloy" (1957) are among the best examples of domestic spy literature. The action of the first story takes place in 1941, when Nazi intelligence managed to throw a group of agents on Soviet territory. Lurking saboteurs "wake up" their new overseas masters to implement a large-scale subversive operation. Counterintelligence officers are in a race against time, trying to identify and neutralize the agent network. The events of the second unfold around a breakthrough invention by Soviet metallurgists that will give a gigantic advantage to the economy and military industry of the Soviet Union. This is trying to prevent our enemies. The center of the operation becomes Professor Troyanovsky, whose son went missing at the very beginning of the war. Blackmail, bribery, an attempt to play on the basest feelings and instincts... are in play.
