Vukan R. Vuchik is a star of world urban studies, the author of modern concepts for the development of transport systems in civilized cities. His central idea is that the construction of new highways does not solve the problem of traffic jams, but worsens it, since the vacated spaces on new highways attract more and more drivers. Another idea of Vuchik is that the cost of travel by car is underestimated, it is subsidized by the state and society, and these subsidies are seemingly invisible and not taken into account by anyone.

Vuchik calls for greater awareness when using a personal car. A separate and, perhaps, the most pressing chapter has been added to this publication - it is dedicated to Vuchik's activities in Russia. He has visited Russia many times and consulted several cities on problems of transport systems. Somewhere his advice was listened to, somewhere - not. We can judge the results ourselves.
