For half a century of writing, the British detective writer Rene Brabason Raymond (1906-1985) published about ninety criminal novels and changed several creative pseudonyms. The most famous of them is James Hadley Chase.
“As a bloodhound, I take a trail and feel what the reader wants. And what he will buy - so the master explained the success of his novels, willingly revealing the golden secret: readers are attracted to "action and rhythm."

The collection includes the novels “You Will Pay for It” in 1946, based on which the film of the same name was filmed in 1951 and “Clear Summer Morning” in 1963. Here, for the first time, Chase invented a “paradise” city with the speaking name “Paradise” – the ideal setting for many of his future detective stories.
