Tanya, or Likutei Amarim (“Collection of Statements”) is the central work of the head of the Hasidim of the Russian Empire and the founder of the Chabad R. Schneur-Zalman of Lyad, also known as the Alter Rebbe (Old Rebbe). This book is the basis of the teachings of Lubavitcher Hasidism.
Tanya, first published in 1796-1797, is an important historical artifact of Russian Jewry. This book has survived hundreds of reprints and has been translated into many languages. It is considered one of the most important works of Jewish bookmaking.
The new Russian translation of Tanya is provided with detailed notes, a lengthy glossary explaining the basic terms of Kabbalah and Hasidism, and an extensive reference apparatus. The first volume of the multivolume edition included the first part of this work - the Book of Mediums, including the text in the original language.
