This is the second book in a three-volume series by International Master I.K. Yanvarev, a renowned coach and author of the seminal work "The King's Indian Played by Tigran Petrosian" (2010), which has received acclaim from readers and has been reprinted abroad.
The three-volume series is united by a common theme: tactics and combinations in chess. Essentially, it is a turnkey textbook, covering everything from beginner to advanced level.
The second volume is devoted to the fundamentals of calculation technique, covering topics such as the tactical "spectrum" of a position, concentration, and engaging the imagination. It offers a new interpretation of the "tree of variations," emphasizing the practical component—the economy of calculation. A separate chapter allows the reader to evaluate their ability to calculate variations and identify ways to eliminate weaknesses. Each chapter concludes with a large number of carefully selected examples for independent solution.
Unlike other similar publications, the author examines chess tactics as a holistic approach, integrated with strategy and elements of psychology. The book is based on an original, proprietary methodology that has proven itself effective in working with chess players of all skill levels. Superbly selected examples, a clear, logical structure, and consistent presentation make the material easy to understand.
