The T-72 became the world's most mass-produced tank of the second post-war generation - more than 30,000 of these vehicles were produced. It is the "seventy-two" tanks, which won well-deserved popularity among tankers for their simplicity and exceptional operational reliability, that still form the basis of the tank fleet of the Russian Federation. This truly legendary tank, which met Abrams and Chiftens in combat, was in service with all armies of the Warsaw Pact countries, was exported in large quantities to the Middle East, Asia and Africa, and during Perestroika it was even supplied to Finland.
