The line of fighter-bombers from the Su-7 to the Su-24, the Su-27 fighter family, the famous Su-25 "Rook" attack aircraft... To this day, these aircraft make up a significant part of the aircraft fleet of many countries around the world. And their journey began back in 1930, when under the leadership of the deputy chief designer of TsAGI A.N. Tupolev, the young engineer Pavel Sukhoi, Brigade No. 4 was created. In the summer of 1939, to refine the "Stalin assignment" - the Su-2 short-range bomber - the team was separated into a separate Sukhoi Design Bureau. In 1949, the bureau was liquidated, but after Stalin's death, it was decided to restore the experimental bureau - and in the 50s, the takeoff began. Along with triumphs, the design bureau had many experimental machines that, for various reasons, never reached serial production, including a unique project of an "aircraft carrier killer" - the T-4 hypersonic bomber. Today, Sukhoi forms the basis of Russia's non-strategic combat aviation. But along with them, the Sukhoi company is making new breakthroughs. Back in 2018, the 5th generation Su-57 fighter was tested for the first time while performing special tasks in Syria. The S-70 Orlan heavy attack drone is carrying out combat sorties. The Superjet 100 is fighting for its position in the civil air transportation market. This book tells about the long and glorious path of the enterprise.
