Sartre's novel-play "No More Stake" was written in 1943, but published only after the war ended, in 1947.

In a long line to the office where afterlife destinies are decided, two people collide: a beautiful woman poisoned by her husband for her inheritance, and a young revolutionary shot by a traitor. They meet, begin to talk to relieve the boredom of waiting, and... fall in love so deeply that they unexpectedly receive a second chance to return to the world of the living, because an error had crept into the paperwork of the "heavenly bureaucracy"—these two, destined for each other, never met in life.
But there is a condition: the lovers must find each other on earth within just one day, otherwise they will return to the afterlife forever...
