In 1939, the British Air Force began an unprecedented destruction of European cities. From the beginning of 1942, the US Air Force joined them. Hundreds of cities were destroyed in Germany, Italy, France, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Hungary and other countries. The goal of these strategic bombings was to break the enemy's will to resist, and at the same time to intimidate the intractable ally - the USSR. In addition, a number of post-war tasks were solved through bombing, in particular, the destruction of competing sectors of European industry, which inevitably led to the establishment of political and economic dependence of European countries on the USA and Great Britain. All this is described in the new book by Alexander Shirokorad.
