The book by M.I. Meltyukhov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, is devoted to the study of the complex Soviet-Polish relations of 1918-1939, which began and ended with undeclared wars initiated first by Warsaw and then by Moscow. In the second half of the twentieth century, Soviet historiography studied these events taking into account the political conjuncture and all the most complex topics were mentioned in passing, or even simply silenced. Now it is possible to take an unbiased look at Soviet-Polish relations in their dynamics. After 1918. Poland and the Soviet Union were adversaries in the struggle for influence in Eastern Europe. The book tells the reader how the Soviet-Polish war of 1919-1920 began, why the Red Army failed to take Warsaw, and how the Treaty of Riga of 1921 was concluded and implemented. The book shows in detail the Soviet-Polish rivalry in the 1930s. The main attention is paid to the outbreak of World War II - the events of September 1939. Now available archival documents allowed to describe in detail the Polish campaign of the Red Army in 1939. The author believes that both Poland and the USSR defended their own truth, no matter how far-fetched it may seem to us nowadays. The book is intended not only for specialists, but also for all fans of thoughtful reading interested in the history of their country.
