The sixteenth conference of the cycle "History of Stalinism" was devoted to the development of Soviet regions (territories, provinces, autonomous entities, cities and districts) in the 1930s-1950s, the specifics of socio-economic development and everyday life. These issues remain relevant in modern historiography. The main attention was paid to important topics, which have been studied to varying degrees. Such as the regional dimension of the key events of the period under review (collectivization, industrialization, political repression, etc.); interaction between the population and regional authorities; cultural regional diversity; standard of living, mass sentiments and practices of social interaction; new and traditional social structures. The aim of the conference was to record the results and outline the prospects for research.
