This book contains photographs of Soviet monuments and memorials that I shot during ten years of traveling through the former Soviet republics. These are monuments dedicated to victory in the Great Patriotic War, science and progress, revolutionary events and outstanding personalities of that era. Even now some of these monuments have been destroyed, others will soon be gone. The purpose of the book is to show the greatness and beauty of Soviet monuments, the skill of their authors, and to call for their preservation. Arseny Kotov is a traveler, photographer and blogger. For the sake of his work he travels around Russia and post-Soviet republics in search of unusual and impressive architecture, monuments and abandoned places. His previous books "Abandoned Cities of the USSR" and "Monumental Art of the USSR", published by AST publishing house, can be found on sale.
