Everyone knows Ivan-Tsarevich and Emelya, Baba-Yaga and Sister Alyonushka. But do you know who the mighty Attygytky is? Or the witch Lutra? Or the sorceress Keshaly? And after all, these characters - part of the fairy tale cosmos of Russia, formed by the folklore of the Pomors and Cossacks, the peoples of Siberia, the Urals and the Far East, the Caucasus and the Volga region....
The fifty fairy tales included in this book have an amazing and sad fate: they were collected, translated and published in the XIX - early XX century. However, the first publications were the last: more than half of these wonderful works of folk fantasy were never published again.
For the first time in a century we are publishing a collection of lost fairy tales of the peoples of Russia: the time has come to reopen this treasury - and to take a new look not only at the culture of the different peoples inhabiting our great country, but also at our history as a whole.
Especially for this edition, we have prepared a unique series of illustrations from the 19th - early 20th century and images of costumes and everyday life of different peoples of Russia.
