Joel Chandler Harris is an American journalist, writer, and author of the famous Uncle Remus Tales. It was J.C. Harris who came up with Uncle Remus, who told tales of black slaves. Soon, there was enough folklore material for a whole book, which was published in 1880. During his entire career, Joel Harris wrote many works about the cunning Brer Rabbit and the no less cunning Brer Fox, which became beloved by both children and adults all over the world. There were so many tales that they were all published as separate books and printed in large print runs. Our book Uncle Remus Tales includes eight tales in color illustrations by Arthur Frost. It was he who, at the end of the 19th century, illustrated the first editions of Uncle Remus Tales, and thanks to him, readers saw what Brer Rabbit and other characters from Harris's tales looked like. Arthur Frost is considered one of the best artists of the "Golden Age of American Illustration."
