Maurice Maeterlinck was a talented Belgian writer and playwright, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. In 1908, he created the philosophical parable play "The Blue Bird," which is rightfully considered a benchmark of symbolism in dramatic art.

The plot revolves around the journey of the children Tyltyl and Mytyl in search of the Blue Bird. The Blue Bird is a symbol of happiness, which people seek everywhere, not realizing that it is right there, when they only need to look around. This play is a magnificent fairytale extravaganza whose profound conception helps children understand the most complex truths, and helps adults remember that they, too, were once children and try to see the world through their eyes.

The publication is illustrated by artist Boris Alexandrovich Dekhterev, whose drawings create a truly colorful spectacle.
