This story begins on a cruise ship where Tintin meets the oddball Philimon Cyclonus, an Egyptologist professor who dreams of finding the tomb of Pharaoh Khi-Oska. Tintin stands up for the scientist to movie mogul Rastapopoulos, and then drugs are planted in his cabin and police officers Dupond and Dupont put him in the hold under arrest. Tintin manages to escape. On shore, he meets the professor and joins his expedition. An ancient papyrus leads them to a tomb, the entrance to which is marked with the sign of Khi-Oska. The exact same sign is on a cigar found by Milou nearby. And in the tomb itself, Tintin discovers a whole warehouse of such cigars! And he also sees there sarcophagi with the mummies of scientists who tried to discover the secret of the pharaoh. And among them three empty - for Tintin, Milu and the professor, who as a matter of course somewhere disappeared ... So Tintin accidentally gets on the trail of an international organization of drug traffickers. Fate throws him first in the Arabian desert, and then in India, where he manages to neutralize the top of the gang, except for the mysterious ringleader, who found death at the bottom of the gorge.
