The novel "Storm" (1923) is the first work of fiction by Ernst Jünger (1895–1998). Unlike his hero, Lieutenant Sturm, a veteran of World War I, Jünger writes specifically about war. It was here that the budding author's distinctive style developed. "Storm" was published only forty years later, in 1963, by which time it had become clear that the young officer's short novel already encompassed, to a significant degree, all the themes of the future writer and thinker Ernst Jünger.
