Charlotte Bronte (1816-1855) was a famous English writer whose great novels entered the history of literature and are still relevant today. Born in the family of a vicar, received a pedagogical education and worked as a governess. She published her first poetry collection with sisters Emily and Anne. Her largely autobiographical novel Jane Eyre can today be called a cult bestseller. He brought Bronte incredible success, friendship with W. Thackeray and position in high society. Interest in her figure was so strong that immediately after Bronte's death, her biography was written, and in modern times, a crater on Mercury is named after her. Sherley was published in 1849 under the pseudonym Carrer Bell. The rapid success of the book forced the author to reveal his true face and further attracted the attention of literary circles in London. Charlotte turned in her novel to the beginning of the century, to the uprisings of the Luddites – participants in spontaneous protests against the introduction of machines during the industrial revolution in England.

Sherley is an ardent description of the conflict of generations, genders and social strata, in which love stories are closely intertwined with harsh reality. Manufacturer Robert Moore is going to marry the rich heiress Sherley, although his heart belongs to the unprivileged Caroline, and Sherley is in love with Robert’s brother, a poor teacher. Will the finale be happy?
