The book includes two stories by a remarkable Russian writer, a participant in the Great Patriotic War Vyacheslav Leonidovich Kondratyev (1920-1993): "Sashka" and "Wounded Leave". These works were written at the very end of the 1970s, more than thirty years after the end of the war. Critics met them enthusiastically - for the truth of the war, for the fact that the heroes were simple Russian guys, ingenuous and open. Before the reader opens their inner world, in which the same battles are going on, invisible, but no less important than on the real battlefield.
Both stories - just about one page of the war. The battle of Rzhev. But the front-line soldiers who fought near Moscow and Stalingrad, at Prokhorovka Field and Zeelov Heights, recognized in the heroes of Kondratyev himself, his feelings and thoughts, his joy and pain, his "trench" truth.
For senior school age.
