With warm greetings from Fekla
How long have they been in the forest? A day, two? A week? In the impenetrable wilderness, the sense of time and place is lost. The trees, ravines, and even the swamps are all the same. Now a rumble to the right, now a crack to the left. Behind every bush, the ghost of Zakharushka looms. And then, as if from underground, a whole army of forest monsters appears to rise, their shaggy withers trembling…
“We can’t despair, we need to find a way out,” says Rzhavy. “Perhaps,” agrees Sevka. “They should have lit a fire,” grumbles Fyokla in his head. Sevka shudders at her voice—every time. If Rzhavy weren’t there, he’d go crazy with fear! Whatever happens in the life of 11-year-old Sevka, he will definitely cope: the main thing is to have someone he can trust nearby. But at first, the hero of this book doesn’t see a friend in Rzhavy, Yashka, or Gnusik. Everything changes overnight when the boys, saving their lives from a gang of hooligans, get lost in the forest. They have no water, no food, only a box of matches in their pocket. The countdown has begun... The book “With Warm Greetings from Fyokla” continues the traditions of serious Russian children’s literature: “The Golden Cloud Spent the Night”, “The Bronze Bird”, “The Cloud Regiment”. Anna Zenkova (born 1984) reveals a world of complexity and ambiguity to the reader, yet never deprives them of hope. No matter what trials await the hero, the voice of loving Fyokla will always ring in his head: at first harsh and frightening, then softer and kinder. In 2019, this debut story by the young writer won the Grand Prix of the "Teenager N" competition, held by KompasGid publishing house, and the V. P. Krapivin Prize in the "Commander's Choice" category.
