The book is the first generalized description of the Russian-Polish war of 1654-1667 at the level of sketches of individual military campaigns. It is the first to present a comprehensive analysis of all campaigns of the protracted multilateral conflict, which rightfully occupies a central place in the military and political history of the Russian state of the XVII century and completely changed the balance of power in Eastern Europe. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, once the most powerful state in the region, was forced to give the palm of primacy to Russia. For the convenience of the reader, each "chapter-campaign" is provided with visual appendices. These are tables that summarize the plans of the parties, the course of hostilities and their results, listed commanders, the strength of their troops and garrisons. The tables are supplemented with a list of the major campaigns (operations) that took place during the campaign. For each campaign maps-schemes of military operations are prepared, so that the reader could generally orient himself in the geography of the described events. The publication is supplied with rich illustrative material.
