This book presents the first comprehensive description of the Russo-Polish War of 1654-1667, covering individual military campaigns. For the first time, a comprehensive analysis of all campaigns in this protracted, multi-faceted conflict is presented. It rightfully occupies a central place in the military and political history of the Russian state in the 17th century and completely changed the balance of power in Eastern Europe. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, once the most powerful state in the region, was forced to cede its primacy to Russia. For the reader's convenience, each "campaign chapter" is provided with visual appendices. These tables briefly outline the parties' plans, the course of military operations, and their outcome, listing the commanders and indicating the strength of their troops and garrisons. The tables are supplemented by a list of the major campaigns (operations) that took place within the campaign. Maps and diagrams of the military operations are prepared for each campaign, allowing the reader to understand the overall geography of the events described. The publication is richly illustrated.
