The book is the first study in Russian devoted to the struggle of Russian special services against the so-called "Finnish Jaeger movement" that originated in Finland during the First World War. Using previously unknown archival materials, the author describes perhaps the largest and longest-running of all secret service operations during the First World War. Geographically, it covered not only the territory of Finland, but also unfolded over vast areas of Northern Europe (including Germany and the Scandinavian countries) and a significant part of the Russian Empire, right up to the Far East. The book is intended for anyone interested in the history of domestic counterintelligence, the history of the First World War, the military history of Russia and Finland, and the history of Russian-Finnish relations.
