Russia in the Great Northern War. The collapse of Swedish great power 1709-1721

The Great Northern War of 1700-1721 was a turning point in the history of Russia and many other countries of Northern and Eastern Europe. For Russia, the result of participation in the coalition of European countries against Sweden was the return of previously lost lands, securing access to the Baltic Sea and becoming a great power.
The book tells about the second stage of the Great Northern War, when after the Battle of Poltava (1709) the Great Northern Alliance was reanimated and the struggle for the southern coast of Sweden, Norway and Swedish possessions in Northern Germany began. In the domestic literature, these watershed events have been described mainly with reliance on Russian sources. The new monograph by Dr. A.V. Bespalov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, presents a holistic picture of the military and diplomatic confrontation in the course of the Great Northern War.
