Russia and the Balkans. 1908–1914. A New Look at the History of Balkan Rivalry and Russia's Participation in It
14.99 €
In this book, Professor Andrew Rossos presents the history of relations between Russia and the Balkan states over a five-year period, beginning with the Bosnian crisis of 1908-1909 and ending with the First World War.

He focuses primarily on the Balkan countries' attempts to deliver a "merciful blow" to Turkey and impede Austria-Hungary's southward advance. Another important theme is the rivalry between the Triple Alliance and the Entente in the Balkans. However, the Balkan system of alliances established by the Ottoman Empire for dominance in the region collapsed, and the author explores the irreconcilable contradictions of the conflict, outlining Russia's policy, forced to cooperate with its rivals in the Balkans.
