This book is a continuation of an eternal cultural discourse, a dialogue about the "differences of similarity" in the spaces of Rome and St. Petersburg, woven from the reflections of art historian and writer Arkady Ippolitov and the polyphony of visual images by photographer Dmitry Sirotkin. The convergence between the cities is born naturally through the inherent kinship of their objects, their grandeur, myths, and architectural flesh. The pages of the album reveal an elusive genius loci between the two capitals, transcending time and momentary details. The photographs and texts exist here in a contradictory unity, sometimes forming duets, sometimes entering into a pictorial counterpoint.

This publication is dedicated to the memory of Arkady Ippolitov (1958-2023).
