Solving the Mayan Code: How Scientists Deciphered the Writing of an Ancient Civilization

Inscriptions in the Mayan language were discovered several hundred years ago, but it has only recently been possible to read them. And if it were not for the research talent of several scientists, including our compatriot Yuri Knorozov, the Mayan language would probably remain a mystery to this day. The story of this amazing decipherment is told by Mayan archaeologist Michael Koh, a professor at Harvard University. Koh personally knew Knorozov and did much to popularize his work back in the days of the Iron Curtain. His book recounts the breakthroughs and difficulties that accompanied one of the greatest intellectual achievements of the 20th century.
