Henry Rider Haggard's new volume includes the long-awaited Dawn, the writer's first major novel. Despite the title, the book is far from as simple as it seems. It is written in the spirit of sensationalized mystery novels. But instead of cunning police officers and private investigators for the detective plot here are responsible for a slightly different heroes. The novel, as thirty barrels, "to the top full of all sorts of amateur villains," as caustically noted elderly aunt Haggard, one of his first readers. There's a lot mixed in - joy and sadness, betrayal and loyalty. The intrigue is actively developing and begins literally from the get-go - with the battle of "terrier" and "rat", two sworn brothers, heirs of the sinister old man Caresfoot. The novel is published in Russian for the first time.
