The very first and, at the same time, the most famous and widely read book “Journey to the Ussuri Region. 1867-1869” by the great Russian traveler and explorer Nikolai Mikhailovich Przhevalsky (1839-1888) is published in the author’s complete version, according to the first edition of 1870, which was printed in St. Petersburg in the printing house of N. Neklyudov, with the author’s money. Among the outstanding explorers of the 19th century, such as Humboldt in South America, Livingstone and Stanley in Africa, Lewis and Clark in North America, Przhevalsky’s place is unique. After all, he was not only a pioneer, a “pioneer” of the newly discovered lands in the South Ussuri Region and Central Asia, but also conducted their comprehensive scientific study, recording its results in detail in his field diaries. The famous book “Journey to the Ussuri Region. 1867-1869” opens a new series of the publishing house “Rubezh”, dedicated to the history of the Far East – “Arsenyev Library”.
