The book is an English-language adaptation of the fairy tale "Nils Holgersson's Wonderful Journey Through Sweden" by the renowned Swedish writer Selma Lagerlöf (1858–1940). This story, widely known in our country, is the author's pinnacle of creativity, earning her international recognition. It tells the captivating story of a boy named Nils, enchanted by a dwarf and reduced to a very small size. He travels across Sweden with a flock of wild geese on the back of Martin the Goose. A cruel, mischievous prankster and carefree lazybones, Nils gradually learns kindness, empathy, and caring for others, sometimes sacrificing his own interests. Becoming a true man, not just in words but in deeds, Nils eventually earns the magical dwarf's forgiveness and becomes an ordinary boy again.
This textbook has been developed in accordance with the new requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard (FSES). This book will help elementary school students prepare for the mandatory final English exam in a new format.
Each chapter of the manual is followed by commentary and translations of difficult words and expressions, as well as exercises that take into account the new final assessment requirements. These exercises are designed not only to test comprehension of the text but also to practice vocabulary and grammar, as well as develop reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills. The exercises have two difficulty levels, allowing each student to demonstrate their level of knowledge and skills.
