This edition includes two novels by Jules Verne, a classic of world fantasy and adventure literature. In Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), the German scientist Otto Lidenbrock, a professor of mineralogy in Hamburg, discovers a manuscript containing runic inscriptions in an ancient Icelandic book. After deciphering them, he and his nephew Axel discover an incredible secret. According to the manuscript's author, the 16th-century alchemist Arne Saknussemm, the globe is hollow, and at its center lies a mysterious, unknown world, accessible through the crater of the extinct Icelandic volcano Snæfell. Lidenbrock and Axel venture into the depths of the earth, unaware of the incredible discoveries, astonishing encounters, and deadly trials awaiting them there...

"Around the World in Eighty Days" (1872) is a story familiar to us from childhood, thanks to numerous (sometimes quite free) film adaptations, about an 80-day journey through various countries and continents undertaken by the eccentric London gentleman Phileas Fogg, his French servant Jean Passepartout, and the detective Fix, pursuing them, following an unusual bet...

The novels are illustrated by the remarkable Czech artist Venceslav Černý (1865–1936) and the Russian master of book illustration, Pyotr Lugansky (1911–1993).
