The Book of King and Prophet David occupies a special place in the Sacred Tradition of the Orthodox Church. Saint Basil the Great describes it as greater and higher than all other books, for it glorifies God together with the Angels and drives away and wounds demons. It is no wonder that the Psalter has been used since ancient times for prayer in church and at home, and today it forms the basis of Orthodox worship.
The book "Psalter with Commentaries" contains a post-church commentary on the psalms of David, as well as rules for the order of reading the Psalter for various occasions, homilies on the psalms of certain holy fathers, and rules for determining the day of the celebration of Easter—the Paschalia.
