The fifth book in the series "Library of World Literature" about the adventures of Alice Selezneva - the heroine of the science fiction writer I. V. Mozheiko. Mozheiko, usually performed under the pseudonym Kir Bulychev - includes ten stories: "Pirate Queen on the planet of fairy tales," "Alice and the Snow Maiden," "Alice on the planet of riddles," "Alice and the Dragon," "Bluebeard's closet," "The Secret of the Black Stone," "Alice and the Pretenders," "Alice on a living planet," "Star Dog", "Vampire Polumraks". The drawings in the book are by the artist Dmitry Nikolaevich Nikulushkin.
Kir Bulychev (1934-2003) - Soviet and Russian writer, translator, screenwriter and playwright, Doctor of Historical Sciences. The writer's real name is Igor Vsevolodovich Mozheiko. His creative pseudonym is the result of adding the name of the author's wife Kira Soshinskaya and the maiden name of his mother Maria Bulycheva. In 1957 he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Languages named after Maurice Thorez, and in 1962 he completed his postgraduate studies. From 1963, the writer began working at the Institute of Oriental Studies. He wrote historical and geographical essays for magazines, was engaged in translations, defended his candidate and then doctoral dissertations. In scientific circles Igor Mozheiko was known for his publications on the history of Southeast Asia. Bulychev's literary activity was characterized by diversity: he wrote scientific works, journalistic articles and works of fiction. He was especially drawn to the creation of cycles of works united by common characters, locations or themes. These include series about the bizarre city of Velikiy Guslyar, about Dr. Vladislav Pavlysh, a space doctor, about the agent of the InterGalactic Police Cora Orvat and, of course, about a resourceful girl from the future - Alice.
"The Adventures of Alice" - a cycle of Bulychev's most famous works. The main heroine of the fascinating novels and stories is a schoolgirl Alice Seleznyova - a brave and inquisitive girl, around which unfold incredible events, she travels through time and explores the most remote corners of the universe. Alice's prototype was the writer's daughter. Amazing stories about a girl from the future Bulychev continued to write for many years. He sought to make children's literature interesting to a new generation of children growing up in the conditions of scientific and technological progress. Bulychev's works had tremendous success during his lifetime; they remain popular today. On their basis were made more than twenty screen adaptations, most of which Bulychev himself wrote the scripts.
This edition is the fifth collection of his works about an extraordinary traveler in the series "Library of World Literature". The book includes ten stories: "The Pirate Queen on the Planet of Fairy Tales", "Alice and the Snow Maiden", "Alice on the Planet of Riddles", "Alice and the Dragon", "Bluebeard's Chulan", "The Secret of the Black Stone", "Alice and the Pretenders", "Alice on a Living Planet", "The Star Dog" and "The Vampire Polumraks". Wonderful illustrations to the texts of the edition were made by the talented Russian artist Dmitry Nikulushkin.
