The novel “Crime and Punishment” is a sample of psychological and socio-philosophical prose. The main character - student Rodion Raskolnikov plots murder and robbery. His motives, on the one hand, are clear: he is poor and in dire need of money; on the other hand, it is not the thirst for enrichment that drives him, but the thought of the selectness and superiority of some people over others. Is it possible to justify the crime internally and what punishment awaits the one who dares to transgress social and moral laws - these questions create the dramaturgy of the novel and keep the reader in suspense until the finale. Expressive illustrations for the novel were created by artist Dementi Shmarinov, a master of conveying the most complex psychological characteristics of the characters.
