"Crime and Punishment" (1866) - one of the most significant works in the history of world literature. It is a profound philosophical novel, and a subtle psychological drama, and a thrilling detective, and a majestic picture of a gloomy city, in the depths of which the heroes sin and seek forgiveness, sacrifice and deny themselves for the sake of their neighbors and find solace in humility, repentance, faith. The protagonist of the novel Rodion Raskolnikov decides to commit murder in order to prove to himself and the world that he is not a "trembling creature" but "has the right". The main subject of the writer's research is the process of transformation of a decent, intelligent and kind young man into a murderer, as well as how Raskolnikov, who has committed a crime, can atone for his guilt. "Crime and Punishment" has been repeatedly screened, the music for the ballet was written by Tchaikovsky, and recently at one of the Moscow venues on the novel was staged rock opera.
