El Lissitzky (1890–1941) was an artist, architect, designer and founder of Russian graphic design. This publication includes his theoretical works on Suprematism, housing culture, book design methods, and exhibition space arrangement. Lissitzky mastered many forms of art: painting, typography, architecture, photomontage. He achieved significant success in each and introduced radical changes to each, developing new techniques and methods that defined 20th-century art. Creating drawings of horizontal skyscrapers, Prouns, and projects for communal living units, Lissitzky sought to overcome the artistic tradition of his time and establish a new culture, the principles of which he outlined in his manifesto texts.
