This book is intended as an introduction to the general range of concepts of modern fundamental natural science with its view of the structure and evolution of the universe and man's place in it, viewed from the point of view of Christian and - in some places - specifically Orthodox theology. The book is divided into three blocks. The first deals with general questions of the relationship between science and religion, as well as the problems of the cognizability of the universe and the nature of physical laws with the special status of mathematical knowledge. The second block is devoted to the structure and evolution of the Universe. The third part of the book is devoted to problems related to the essence of life and consciousness in an attempt to analyze them from the standpoint of natural sciences. The book will be of interest to a wide range of readers interested in the relationship between Christianity and the natural sciences as an introduction to the problems of natural-scientific Christian theology.
