The years spent at Sretensky Seminary were for most of the seminarians the happiest and most interesting time, a period of incessant discoveries, which will be discussed in the book "Getting to Sretensky" by Priest Konstantin White. They were fortunate to catch it, as well as the entire Sretensky Monastery, in an incomparable period - during the years of the vicarage and rectorship of Vladyka Tikhon (Shevkunov), when this island of faith became literally permeated with a kind, warm, cheerful "Sretensky" spirit. The author, himself a graduate of the Sretensky Seminary, shows Vladyka as he was seen and remembered by the seminarians, and at the same time gives curious stories reflecting the character of the vicar. As the seminarians lived, studied and worked side by side with the residents, who were mostly graduates of the same Sretensky Seminary, the author also writes about the monks who lived or still live in the monastery.
