Saint Innokenty of Penza (Smirnov; 1784-1819) – an outstanding church historian, theologian, exegetist, preacher, teacher of the early XIX century, the closest spiritual friend of St. Philaret of Moscow’s youth – departed to the Lord very young, at 35 years old, but left a diverse and original legacy.

To the 200th anniversary of the death of the saint, the Complete Collection of his works is published, in which all historical, theological and exegetical works, sermons, notes, poems, letters, administrative documents, as well as materials about the life and veneration of the ascetic are collected. All works are published in manuscripts, lifetime or first editions, and are provided with modern scientific commentary.

The first four volumes of the present edition are “The outline of church history...” – the main and most voluminous creation of St. Innocent of Penza, the fifth volume includes his theological articles, the sixth volume contains sermons, letters and poems. The seventh and eighth volumes contain documents related to the saint, the last two contain memories and materials about the saint.
