The action takes place in 2142, forty years after scientist Akira Kimura prevented the destruction of the planet from an asteroid and became a near-cult figure. Since then, the world has changed: some environmental and economic crises have been contained, and the elite have relocated to luxurious cities on the ocean floor. When Akira senses a threat, she calls her former head of security, now a detective. But upon arrival, he finds her murdered and becomes a suspect.

The novel then unfolds as an investigation with a personal stake. The protagonist attempts to understand who was behind the crime and returns to the events that connected him with the deceased many years ago. The story weaves together a private matter and a major social conflict: scientific experiments, a cult of personality, inequality, corruption, and the consequences of climate change. Within lies a tense plot, an underwater city of the future, and questions about the line between saving humanity and wielding dangerous power over it.
