The novel "Pollyanna" tells the story of an eleven-year-old girl who constantly plays the amazing game "Happy Everything." Left without a father or mother, Pollyanna comes to live with her only relative, Aunt Polly, whom she has never met. The girl must confront the contradictory sides of human nature, experience new things, and embrace important life changes. "Pollyanna" quickly gained fans in the United States and soon brought Eleanor Porter worldwide fame.

Two years later, Porter wrote a new novel, "Pollyanna: A Young Woman," in which the main character appears as a nearly adult girl. Pollyanna's inexhaustible love of life and inexhaustible inner strength continue to captivate readers today.

At the end of the 20th century, the term "Pollyanna principle" appeared in psychology, and in 2002, a monument to her heroine was erected in Littleton, the writer's birthplace. In this edition, the novels about the cheerful girl are adorned with brightly colored illustrations, capital letters, and design elements created by contemporary artist Natalia Valentinovna Chuvasheva.
